Safety as a Value

Safety as a Value

Safety as a Value - Komodo Gear

Most of us who ride have a strong support system, friends and family.  Does this sound familiar?  What brings us together is our passion for the sport of motorcycling.  Regardless of what you ride, it’s a bond that we can all identify with and it transcends across all borders.  When it comes to our passion, we must do all that we can to protect ourselves and loved ones.

Komodo holds firmly to the philosophy that safety is a Value.  We believe that form must follow function; we provide our customers with products that actually work in a racing environment.  Safety is a value that can
not be compromised and we believe in building a safety culture around us and our customers.  Educating our customers on materials and production methods we use in a racing leathers is always a priority; and we openly share these facts with our customers because we believe it creates trust and confidence.  We passsafety on as a value because it is a part of our code of ethics.

We will continue to live by this code because it is our loved ones that suffer most when something happens.  When you live for your passion, make sure you are placing your faith in a company who values your safety as much as you value your own health.

Racing and Social Influence

Racing and Social Influence

friends that ride - komodo gear

When it comes to our hobbies and passions, we spend a bit of our time on forums and also on social networks just reading what others have to say.  This is particularly true of certain items that we need  or are interested in regarding our interest in motorcycles.  If you’re looking for a new exhaust, you’ll find lots of opinions on the forums, which is good.  It makes for good reading and research.  The same is true of apparel and racing leathers, lots of opinion’s and information out there.  The difference, is that a lot of opinion’s are just that, or they are too biased and there are times we are looking for a more objective response.

It’s even better if you can  find information from those who use a product in competition, like actual racers.  I mean, if you’re looking for products that have a proven past and are used by actual racers, where do you go?  Komodo Gear understands this need to find relevant information when it comes to racing leathers.  Because of this, we have been working closely with the racing community for the past 8 years and have been fortunate to acquire actual video and written testimonials from privateers and pro’s from across the country.

We think one of the best places to find “real world” opinions from racers that are unscripted are on Komodo Gear’s YouTube Channel
Opinion’s are great, especially from our friends because we trust them and know they have real experience using the product.  It’s even more cool when you can get information from the privateers and pro’s and know the information they’re providing is genuine.  Komodo will continue to share video and written testimonies with our friends because we want to be able to continue to meet the needs of riders – and be viable to the sport.

Eagle’s Canyon Raceway track day experience

Eagle’s Canyon Raceway Track Day Experience

Ever thought about going to a track day, but not sure where to begin?  The good news is that you have local choices; the bad news is that they are not all created equal.  Eagles Canyon Raceway, Komodo Gear, Michelin, Ottis Lance and Ty Howard have teamed up to offer a one of a kind, unique track day experience.  For starters, we offer the rider something different; we call it the “ECR experience”.
Dave Hirsch of Michelin attends each event and provides their best tires with full support.  This means you get personal attention from Dave, who owns Island Racing services.  Dave is the Michelin expert and will answer any of your questions and provide personal service throughout the entire day.  Ottis “Otter” Lance, former World Superbike racer, is there to provide chassis & suspension setup as well.  Otter provides world class knowledge when it comes to chassis and suspension setup.  This is a unique opportunity where you can achieve a combination of tire/chassis/suspension set up that ensures your bike is being setup correctly to ride the track at its best.   When you combine those changes, your bike rides better and allows you to have more confidence on the track.  You can discuss all of your questions with Dave or Otter at the track, which means you learn more and become a better rider.   Komodo Gear attends and provides each rider a wide selection of state of the art safety gear for the track.  When you get on the track, you need the best equipment possible and your safety cannot be taken for granted.
All of our instructors are race certified and for riders who want personalized instruction; Ty Howard is there with his Typhoon Riding School.   The curriculum that Ty offers in a one-on-one setting will greatly improve your riding skills.  The reality is that the majority of riding and race instructors at other track day schools have been tutored or instructed by Ty at one time
The Eagles Canyon Trackday is a well-structured event for riders who desire a more gratifying Trackday experience.  Each event runs on time and without “over booking”.  This means each session offers more track time and less rider congestion on the track.   The unique attribute is that we believe in offering the rider as much “saddle” time vs. class room time on the track as possible.  To be a better rider, you have to put in a lot of laps.   Once you get some laps under your saddle, you’re going to have questions and we always sit down with each rider to discuss them.   If you’re searching for a unique Trackday experience, then you’re going to have to ride with us at Eagle’s Canyon http://www.eaglescanyon.com/2008/home.php where you are amongst some of the industry’s leading experts for the entire day.
