Safety as a Value

Safety as a Value

Safety as a Value - Komodo Gear

Most of us who ride have a strong support system, friends and family.  Does this sound familiar?  What brings us together is our passion for the sport of motorcycling.  Regardless of what you ride, it’s a bond that we can all identify with and it transcends across all borders.  When it comes to our passion, we must do all that we can to protect ourselves and loved ones.

Komodo holds firmly to the philosophy that safety is a Value.  We believe that form must follow function; we provide our customers with products that actually work in a racing environment.  Safety is a value that can
not be compromised and we believe in building a safety culture around us and our customers.  Educating our customers on materials and production methods we use in a racing leathers is always a priority; and we openly share these facts with our customers because we believe it creates trust and confidence.  We passsafety on as a value because it is a part of our code of ethics.

We will continue to live by this code because it is our loved ones that suffer most when something happens.  When you live for your passion, make sure you are placing your faith in a company who values your safety as much as you value your own health.

See you trackside!

Racing and Social Influence

Racing and Social Influence

friends that ride - komodo gear

When it comes to our hobbies and passions, we spend a bit of our time on forums and also on social networks just reading what others have to say.  This is particularly true of certain items that we need  or are interested in regarding our interest in motorcycles.  If you’re looking for a new exhaust, you’ll find lots of opinions on the forums, which is good.  It makes for good reading and research.  The same is true of apparel and racing leathers, lots of opinion’s and information out there.  The difference, is that a lot of opinion’s are just that, or they are too biased and there are times we are looking for a more objective response.

It’s even better if you can  find information from those who use a product in competition, like actual racers.  I mean, if you’re looking for products that have a proven past and are used by actual racers, where do you go?  Komodo Gear understands this need to find relevant information when it comes to racing leathers.  Because of this, we have been working closely with the racing community for the past 8 years and have been fortunate to acquire actual video and written testimonials from privateers and pro’s from across the country.

We think one of the best places to find “real world” opinions from racers that are unscripted are on Komodo Gear’s YouTube Channel
Opinion’s are great, especially from our friends because we trust them and know they have real experience using the product.  It’s even more cool when you can get information from the privateers and pro’s and know the information they’re providing is genuine.  Komodo will continue to share video and written testimonies with our friends because we want to be able to continue to meet the needs of riders – and be viable to the sport.

See you trackside!

The Relationship Connection to the Addiction of Motorcycle Racing

Addiction of Motorcycle Racing

Addiction of Motorcycle Racing - What better time than Christmas to reflect on the gifts you have received over the course of your life. When you look at your life in totality, the “crap” and “fluff” tend to blow away like the chaff in a wheat field. The new bike you “lusted after”, that larger trailer that would make “life at the track” so much sweeter, the “championship” that would validate who you are, all seem less important as we think about “our life” as a whole.

Most of you know that I am not a racer. In fact, I had never owned a motorcycle until I became a part of KOMODO (www.komodogear.com)! But I love motorcycle racing, because I have grown to love the people who race! You guys are a bunch of crazy dudes, but undoubtedly the nicest group of people I have ever been around. The company Komodo Gear was established to be a “defiantly different” company not only in the construction of leather race suits and protective gear, but in the way we responded to our customers. A component of being “defiantly different” is to be trackside were we can get to know the racers that are using our racing protective gear and establish relationships that will foster honest feedback as to what we are doing right as well as where we can improve. As I have traveled throughout the United States so that Komodo Gear will be “track side”, the terrain changed, but the people did not! At each new track I visited, I found the same type of people; fierce competitors, devoted friends!

I never cease to be amazed and inspired by the common sight on any race weekend, of racers “smack talking” each other before a race, aggressively battling one another on the track during the race, and immediately after that race; those same two racers feverishly helping each other get their bikes ready for another race! I am not a physiologist, but I am suspicious that the “need for speed” addiction that fuels the sport of motorcycle racing, is itself fueled by the friendships created in the paddock!
