TEAM HOOTERS SUZUKI CLOSES OUT 2006 AND PREPARES FOR 2007
Team Hooters Suzuki closed out the 2006 AMA PRO Superbike racing season in strong form. Racing against the best factory Superbike riders in the country such as Superbike Champion Ben Spies, Former Champion Matt Mladin, American Honda’s Miguel Duhamel, and many more, Hooters ended the Superbike season 14th overall in the Championship Points.
There were 18 AMA PRO Superbike finals at various race tracks across the country. Unfortunately, Team Hooters Suzuki suffered four DNFs (2 were due to mechanical and 2 were due to race crashes). Having scored 0 points in those 4 rounds clearly moved the Hooters Team out of the top 10, but still ended the season with respectable championship points.
Team Hooters Suzuki now needs to change focus toward the 2007 AMA PRO Racing season. In 2006 the Team focused exclusively on the Superbike class. For 2007, the Team is going back to a 2-rider, 2-class format in the AMA PRO Superbike Series.
Rider negotiations continue, but many other exciting sponsorship opportunities are developing. Team hooters is proud to announce a new relationship with Komodo Gear. This company is based in Texas and produces top quality leather and textile motorcycle wear.
Komodo will be producing the Team’s custom racing leathers / rider suits for the 2007 season. In addition, Team Hooters looks forward to Komodo producing a Hooters racing replica jacket that will be available to the public in both leather and textile designs. You can check out Komodo at www.komodogear.com.
Look for additional changes in the AMA PRO Racing Schedule for 2007 as follows:
The season kicks off at the Daytona International Speedway, March 7th-10th. After a break in the schedule the season picks up the pace with Round 2 at Barber Motorsport Park in Birmingham, AL, April 20th-22nd. After Birmingham the Team has just 3 days to pack up and head to Fontana, CA (just east of Los Angeles) for Round 3 at California Speedway, April 27th-29th. Team Hooters then has 2 weeks in California to freshen up the motorcycles for Round 4 in Sonoma, Ca at Infineon Raceway, May 18th-20th.
After this event the Team has 10 days to drive to Round 5 in Elkhart Lake, WI for Road America Raceway, June 1st-3rd. The Team will have 2 weeks to turn the truck around and head west again to Utah for Round 6 at Miller Motorsports Park, June 22nd-24th. From Utah, the Team will then head back to California for Round 7 for the US Grand Prix at Laguna Seca Raceway in Monterey, CA, July 20th-22nd.
After the Laguna Seca event, the Team will head back east to Lee’s Performance Center in Charlotte, NC to rebuild all race motors and prepare for the second half of our racing season. Round 8 will bring us to Lexington, OH at the Mid-Ohio Race Course, August 3rd-5th; Round 9 is Virginia International Raceway in Alton, VA, August 17th-19th.
Round 10 will take us to the beautiful Road Atlanta Road course in Braselton, GA, August 31st-September 2nd; Round 11 will bring us back to California for the last time this season to race again at Laguna Seca Raceway in Monterey, CA, September 14th-16th; and the final Round 12 will end the season back at Lexington, OH again at the Mid-Ohio Race Course, September 28th-30th.
Ohio is the home state of the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) and the final event will be a special week-long event.
For those interested in watching AMA PRO Superbike Racing on television, all races are televised by SpeedChannel and typically air either Sunday of the race weekend or the Tuesday following a race weekend. We hope all our Hooters Suzuki fans will watch and cheer us on.
